Hi Folks
Just found you!
I have been using Finale for a long number of years - been on 2014.5 for some time, running under Windows 10.
Just in the last few days I have started to experience a strange issue -wonder if anyone has come across it and knows what to do about it!

I am writing in an orchestral score - randomly, when I hit "R" to toggle between a note and a rest (using Simple Entry), what has started happening is that the note appears in the bar and it fills the rest of the bar with single note rests of the same value as the note.
The system then seems to lock up...it will let me save, but it wont let me select any tools or options, cant edit anything or erase the mistake that it has put in...I have to shut down the programme and leave it closed for some time and then go back in again...it then seems to work normally until I forget to use a right click to toggle note/rest, hit the "R" key and we are off on the same pattern again -extremely frustrating and time consuming!

Would anyone have any ideas on this?

Thank you very much for your help.
Cheers
Martin

Further update....not confined to the "R" issue above now...just randomly stopping ...as above display remains fine, I can save, but wont let me select tools or edit anything!

(PC is regularly swept with up to date anti-virus and clean up software - has been just done and is clean)

Presumably you have tried rebooting your machine, and you're not running some external macro program such as Autohotkey which might be co-opting the R key.

MakeMusic would probably advise you to reset your preferences, and that's the first thing to try. Close Finale and find your way to

C:\Users\Martin\AppData\Roaming\MakeMusic\Finale 2014.5 (substitute your user name as appropriate)

Move FINALE.INI somewhere else, such as the desktop, then launch Finale. If the problem is solved, great--you'll have to redo all your customization. If the problem is still there, though, quit Finale and move FINALE.INI from the desktop back into Finale's folder (replacing the new one Finale just generated) and look for other solutions.

Thank you very much!
I have tried rebooting, no external macros or anything.
Thanks for the advice, I'll give that a try, much appreciated. :-)

(And presumably your drive is C, not E. Fixed above.)

Thanks for the help, did that, unfortunately, first time I hit the "R" key, back came the same issue. I think I shall have to raise a ticket with Make Music.. Unless anyone can think of anything else to try?
Thanks for the help, very much appreciated.
