I've just come up with this issue for the first time, I tried changing a score's key from "keyless" to "C minor" with transposition set to "hold notes to same staff lines (modally)", hover when I hit ok it puts accidentals everywhere, as if I had selected "hold notes to original pitches"... In fact I've tried, even if I select "transpose notes (up or down)", it still act as if I had selected the hold to pitch option and put accidentals everywhere... this is the first this has happened, I have done this several times before on other scores with no problem. As anyone come across similar issue, or have any thoughts on what's going on?

the key itself is irrelevant to me, this is gamelan transcription, the alteration simply allow for a playback that is slightly more accurate to the instruments particular tuning (the E, B and A are slightly flat). If I don't find a solution I can just keep my score as is, my musicians will understand with or without the key signature, so long as the notes are on the right lines.

thanks!

am using finale 2014.5 on a mac

If you can attach a file, I would be interesting in playing with it. There's probably a way.

ok I just figured it out... it seems the problem was the "Keyless" starting point! so what I did was I first changed the key to A minor, which of course makes no transposition, since no alteration, then I changed the key again to C minor with hold notes to same lines selected, and now it behaved as expected! Good to now, most of my other transcription scores of this type must have been in the the default c major, which is why I never had this issue before...

Seems like a bug. I suspect modal transposition from keyless to a key signature doesn't come up that often, which is probably why no one caught that it was broken.

I'd never tried modal transposition before and had fun playing with it. Take something really familiar and transpose it modally up or down a couple of fifths. Pretty wild!
