How do I apply the X-noteheads staff style to one layer?

I have composed a piece for piano and vibraphone duet that incorporates a lot of rhythm and syncopation between the two instruments. In one particular passage I want to add a rhythm that the piano is playing as X-noteheads under the main melody that the vibraphone plays (which I want to be regular notes), but applying that staff style applies it to all layers. I entered the piano's rhythm in layer 2.

I've read other posts on this topic but the workarounds/solutions don't apply to me, as my specific issue deals with the X-noteheads style.

I know cue notes can convey the same message to the musician on the vibraphone, but because it's rhythmic, I'd like to have X-notation.

Windows Finale v.25

Thanks,
Luke

Layer 2>View Active Layer Only>Utilities>Change>Noteheads...>X-notehead

Or, JW Change>Notes>Noteheads>X-notehead>Filter: layer 2

You could instead use rhythmic notation, which can be applied to a particular layer.
