Playback makes it crash

I have Finale 2012 for Mac. Whenever I try to play a chart, Finale crashes. Any ideas?

What is your operating system? 2012 won't run on the newer versions.

Sorry I'm just getting back to you. My OS is El Capitan. My Mac is a little older and unable to upgrade any further.

Try turning Human Playback off. That was an issue with some combinations, although I don't remember which.

They fix these things in newer versions. Since you can't get the newer version, you're stuck.

Ok, one more thing, is there a similar issue with printmusic? And if not, can you open finale files in printmusic?

You would have to go to PM 2014.5.
And yes, you can open Finale files with it.

They did and call it Finale 25.

There have been two paid Finale upgrades and 5 Mac OS updates since 2012 with another next month. If 25 has to be tweaked to be compatible to OS 10.13, I expect a maintenance release but none for any other products unless it's for PrintMusic 2014.5.
You can download the demo of PrintMusic 2014.5 to test if this is going to work for you or if you need to upgrade to 25.
