Any way to avoid the extra space created by the accents here? JW Note Spacing doesn't help.

I turned off "avoid collisions of articulations," respaced, then rechecked "avoid," and it seems to have worked. Is there a better way?

I do it the opposite of you. "Avoid collisions of articulations" is always inactive except when I need it for limited measures, after which I turn it off again.
