The latest update to to Mac OS 10.12, 10.12.6, is now available from the App Store, and I expect to download its just over 1GB in the next couple of days to one of two computers running OS 10.12.5 with Finale 25.

If no-one else has reported once I have given it a bit of a trial (not exhaustive, though), I'll report back in due course. Usually these updates work OK, but I remember a dreadful Finale boorach for some of us a few years ago when updating from 10.5.7 to 10.5.8 (we got persistent messages saying our Finale [2007, I think] was not authorized and that there were ‘0 days’ left to authorize).

David,
How did you find that? I checked the App Store, and my search for updates did not flag this. However, when I checked on the Sierra icon on the first screen, it shows that the new version is 10.12.6. I wonder if they are rolling it out in waves, to prevent a massive server strain?

Many people like to harken back to Snow Leopard as "rock solid", "best Apple ever did", "all downhill since then", but TWO updates (3 and 8?) had to be pulled for serious showstopping bugs -- and revised "v1.1 updates" released, and another update (either 6 or 7) had a major issue with OTF fonts, for which Apple had to release a "font update".

All of which goes to show that you both big (Apple) and small (MM) can make critical mistakes, and the best you can expect is for them to acknowledge a problem and fix it quickly.

Any reason to not wait a week to make sure there's no catastrophe?

Apple has a large population of developers, seed testers and public beta testers, who usually spot things first. (Though most may have moved on to 10.13 and ignored 10.12.6...!)

How many of them use Finale on an extremely competent or professional level?

Yea there have been a few releases that Apple had to correct within days. OS 10.8.1 was particularly problematic — to the point where I was on the phone with senior engineers looking at my system and saying, "see, I can't do ... because ... doesn't exist" so, yea, it can happen.

One can always roll back an update through Time Machine if done quickly enough. I don't let it bother me.

I always use the Combo Updater as I have a large number of Macs to update.

This is a security and networking (SMB) update with a fix to Terminal. I ran it this morning and have noticed no difference.

On one of my Macs, the fans were idling a little fast after the installation. Rebooting again fixed that.

After I updated, Logic Pro X and MainStage showed updates in the App Store dated yesterday.
