I'm successfully working with Finale 25 now, but a problem that I haven't experienced for quite some time has reappeared: when I try to move an expression, just a little bit, either using the mouse or an arrow key, it jumps--sometimes quite a bit to the left or to the right, reattaching to a new note; once, one of them jumped several measures to the right!

How do I keep this from happening? In every case, I have the expression exactly where I want it horizontally but just need to nudge it a tiny bit vertically. The jump means I have to place it horizontally from scratch, which is a nuisance.

Thanks for your help!

Mark

If it's jumping because it wants to attach to a new note, I believe you can hold down the Alt key while moving to prevent that. There's also a setting somewhere to make "don't jump to the next note" the default.

Thanks! Yes, that setting is in Preferences, and it works.

That's what I do. If you decide you want to move an expression to another note, you can hold down the Alt key.
