Finale 25. Mac.
Tapspace

I found an audition packet from Broken City Percussion. It includes a piece called Negenacht. The snare drum has sticking (R, L) for most notes. In some measures an initial sticking (R or L) is followed by this symbol: >>. These measures are not repeats of the previous measures. I''ve never seen this before and can't find any reference to it on the internet.

Anybody know what >> means? Could it some kind of double accent? An indication for both hands together?

After looking at the same audition materials you are perusing, I am going to guess it is shorthand for continuing on with alternating sticking, so they don't have to write it all out. In other words, R followed by >> means RLRL etc.

Zuill, you're a genius! The >> is a funky ditto mark. I checked the alternated sticking to see if it comes out right on the next printed R or L, and yeah, it does. Thanks!
