I'm running version 25.4.1.152 on Windows 10. Suddenly I cannot open files created in version 2012. Finale just locks up and does nothing. Any ideas?

What has worked for me is to change the extension from .mus to .musx.

I don't know if that will work for you but it's worth a try.

Thanks, Mike. Unfortunately, that does not seem to solve the problem. This last upgrade of Finale has not worked out very well for me. I'm hoping that technical support will have a solution. In the meantime, work has ground to a halt.....

If you want to upload a file here, we can see if it's your set-up or the file itself.

Motet,

Thanks for your offer of help. I just heard back from Finale CS, and have forwarded a few files to them. Wish me luck.
Many thanks,
-Jerry

Any chance you have symbols in the titles?

Did you download the maintenance updater? On the Mac, that leaves you with build 25.4.1.163. I don't know about Windows.

You can Check for Updates under the Finale menu.

Nope. I did read about those issues affecting .mus files, but these have nothing but a brief title. I am hoping that the tech service person at MakeMusic will have an answer for me.

If you still have 2012 installed you might try creating another file and see if it also has the problem.

I don't have it installed. And I cannot locate the disk - (damnit)! But that is an excellent idea.

You don't need the disc. If you bought it from MM, you can download it from your account.

Thanks! If MM does not come up with a solution I will do that. I never had any problems with the 2012 version.
