Since updating to 25.4, I notice that when I highlight a passage and press 9, which used to transpose it up by an octave, it goes up some ridiculous number of octaves, with an insane amount of ledger lines. I guess this shortcut is unusable for now.

Is this a known issue?

You could try resetting your preferences, or you could reprogram the key. Instructions in the manual.

Could be a variation on the "Virtual Stuck Key Syndrome". Log out and back in to your User Account, or shut down and restart the computer. It could also be a "Physically Stuck Key" if your keyboard is older. Try repeatedly hitting the 9 key rapidly. Do both 9 keys malfunction, on the num pad and the other on the main keyboard?

In other words, this is not a bug for everyone? I have workarounds - that's not what I need. Just was curious if it was exclusive to my setup.

It works okay for me on 25.4.

And it works correctly for me on the Mac.

schnootre, I was hoping to encourage you to solve this on you own, but type Command-Shift-9 and see what it's programmed to. If it's not "transpose up diatonically octave (plus 0 octaves), fix it and press OK.

Well - thanks for clearing it up ultimately. Yes - there were somehow an extra 51 octaves added. That's fixed now. I was unaware these meta-tools could be programmed.

Also - after 24 years of Finale use, I'm good on the encouragement-to-learn-on-my-own front! :) There are holes in all of our knowledge, and sometimes the quick fix is much appreciated!

Sorry to scold.

This may indicate a corrupted preferences file with more problems. You say it's been that way since you got V25. Did you copy the preferences file from an older version when you installed?
