Greetings!

I need this symbol for a concert harp pedal buzz tone. Does anyone know if it's included in a font? Or will I need to create it myself?

Thanks,
HP.

Possibly a font has this, somewhere. You can make it in Finale as a Shape Expression or a Shape Articulation.

A suggestion - use a sans serif font like Helvetica or Arial.

Finding the symbol online, I figure Meastro has the character that would be close enough (slot 122).

P.S.: Only the Z is in slot 122. I added the line in the Shape Designer.

Amongst the 3,204 symbols in Bravura, the SMuFL reference font, there's a whole section for Harp techniques, which includes a mirror-flipped Z with one or two lines.

Bravura is the first port of call for any symbol. And if it's not there, let them know!

I've downloaded the bravura font.

Can someone tell me where the folder should go on my Mac (Sierra)?

The zip file contains the files/folders as pictured...

You only really ned the OTF font, and install that as per other fonts.

I've successfully input the required harp playing symbols using the articulation tool.
Now I am doing a Key to the Symbols at the bottom of the score page and I would like to know how to include the Bravura font symbol in a text block. I am able to select the bravura font for the text block but I am unable to guess the correct keystrokes (with or without shift/option etc) for the required symbols.

Any clues?

Cheers,
Hector.

PS: I want to use for example this symbol in a text block using the bravura font:

and in the articulation tool, it has a numeric value of 1591.

No need to guess the correct keystrokes:
Text menu > Inserts > Symbol…
You get to the dialog box Symbol Selection where you can select any character in the font.

PS
In the Symbol Selection you can even see the keystroke for a selected character.

Note that there is a special version of Bravura called Bravura Text, designed to work better in Text blocks than the version for use in notation.

Also, consider purchasing PopChar, which makes looking for special characters a snap!
