Windows 7 Finale 2014.5
See measure 8 of the attached document. Up until yesterday, I had no problems with this document. I did some preliminary pre-printing formatting on it, then shut it down for the night, and am now noticing that measure 8 has gone screwy in the winds and brass. The meter seems to be right, and there doesn't seem to be a hidden meter or any hidden triples, but for some reason beats 3 and 4 are shifting strangely... but only in those instruments, not in the strings. I've tried re-entering them, but it keeps happening. I'm at a loss.

Looks like the "beat chart" has gotten changed for the end of that measure. The rest of the parts look OK because there's no action in the latter half of the measure. There must be some way of resetting the beat chart, but I can't find it. You could manually correct it, I guess. Maybe someone will know how to get it back to the default (I'd like to know, too).

If you insert a new measure stack and copy the offending measure in, things will be fixed. But don't copy the whole stack on once--that seems to result in copying the beat chart, even if you deselect "Measure settings" in the filter. Instead, copy all but one staff, then do the remaining staff separately.

The spacing width table you're using is messed up somehow. Under the Spacing Options > Spacing Widths if you switch to the scaled spacing method (the button by "These Values") and respace, the problem is fixed. Switch back to the spacing table option, respace, and the problem is back. See attached file.

When I open Ed's file these are the settings and what appears on the page. My file shows the change to Scaled Spacing and the correct result.motet wrote:When I open his file, "scaled spacing" is already selected. Look at the beat chart for that measure.

Use Spacing Width Table is the selection when I open the file. The numbers are quite screwy.
Apply Beat Spacing and it likes fine, but Note Spacing is off.
My suggestion is either fix the numbers or use the default settings as suggested.

Thanks for all the input, folks. I wonder if something happened when I applied the Medium Spacing Library yesterday, though I don't recall altering any of the numbers.
At any rate, for the sake of alacrity, I inserted a blank measure and moved stuff around and it's done. Thanks, all.
