Hi all,

When writing harp pedalling on the music,

Db C B# | Eb F G# Ab

is it ok to leave out the natural signs? My research suggests natural signs should be included, however to my eye, it is clearer without them because you can quickly see just the accidentals.

What do you think?

Cheers,
Hector Pascal.

I would only include the natural if it was an alteration from a previously flattened or sharpened note.
if you are only using the pedal diagram at the beginning of a movement, to my eye, it is unnecessary to include the naturals.

I always have used the naturals, but I suspect what Michel says is right: they are only necessary when there is a change.

In checking sites around the web, it seems that harpists have done it both ways, but my observation is that the inclusion of the natural is more common. Maybe that is more traditional, and perhaps the trend is toward abandoning the naturals, but they seem to be in use more than not.
