Hi all,

I have a woodwind instrument playing semiquavers for 2 bars. I've slurred the whole lot, but I've also accented a few of the semiquavers under the slur.

I wrote it some time ago and no woodwind player has ever questioned it, however I now feel older and perhaps wiser and I wonder if I should slur only up to the accents, not over them.

Thoughts?

HP.

Having accents under a slur is different than just slurring up to the accent. Choose which effect you want and then notate it accordingly. They are both correct.

A woodwind player will typically give a little extra huff of air on such notes rather than tongue them, so the accent is more subtle, and may or may not be the sound you're after.

Thank you. I've chosen to refrain from changing anything. I have been happy with the performers' interpretation of the notation thus far.

Thanks again,
HP.
