HI,
I'm using Finale 2014.5 on Mac and creating a document using the Jazz font.
Somehow, my rehearsal letters/numbers are messed up. Depending on the number in the closed box, it is somehow mis-shapen due to the individual character in the box - please see attached screen shot.
How can I edit the definition so my rehearsal numbers adjust in size depending on the contents?
Thanks in advance.
Darren

This is a limitation in the JazzText font.
The enclosure is created with a special “enclosure character” before the rehearsal number, and another special “enclosure character” after the rehearsal number.
The problem appears where the “enclosure characters” are surrounding a single, narrow character - like the number 1 character.
Obviously the enclosure character before the number stretches too far to the right.
Solutions/workarounds:
1) With a font editor you could edit the {before the number} enclosure character, to get a character that stretches less to the right.
2) Remove the two enclosure characters from the rehearsal mark, and instead use the option Enclosure Shape.
Try e. g. the Rectangle shape.
Try e. g. a Line Thickness of 9e.
Unfortunately a rectangle does not look “handwritten”.

You could also make 3 differently configured rehearsal marks for different numbers of characters. Go to the Help Menu > Character Sets > Jazz Text font to find the keystrokes for the different enclosure widths.
