Hi,
I can't remember how I did this, the thing is that I have a file where I altered the stem connections for the < symbol maestro font in order to use it as a note head. I saved and load this library into a new document, but this setting is not working (there's "use stem connections" checked )
Any ideas ?

It should be in Document Options/Stems. Click Stem Connections. I use Windows, so maybe Mac is different.

Actually, If I copy a measure with this note head from the other document it works, but when I create a new note and try to use the same note head the stem connection is wrong…
The first measure is the one I copied, them stem is wrong in the second one

Yes, I see that now. It looks like adjusting the vertical position messes up the stem connection. You want correct playback, right? If you do it my way, maybe there is a way to transpose the playback for notes that are affected.Arturo wrote:Thanks but your note head is one interval higher …
What was happening in my file is that I needed to adjust also the note head vertical position, that was what I forgot.
Another thing to consider is making a font that has the accent placed at the proper vertical position. Font Lab makes an inexpensive font editor (Type Tool - $50) that would do it easily.

Arturo, you need to use a font that has the same baseline for the accent > as the Maestro notehead.
If you use the Maestro accent, it won't work and result in the notehead a second too high.
You could use for example all LilyPond fonts for the accent (Beethoven, Haydn, Cadence,...) - they will work fine.
(More about the font metrics and baseline in Finale: https://elbsound.studio/music-font-comp ... ontmetrics , see image 3, 4 and 5).
Nevertheless you need to create a stem connection as the horizontal metrics are different, but you won't have the wrong interval as in Maestro.
I posted a JW Lua script yesterday on Facebook Finale Powerusers which works fine for updating several noteheads to a new symbol with one click. You can download it here:

Just download the script and load it in the Finale JW Lua plugin. Then download and install the required font.
Then change the following lines in the script, if you want to use for example the accent from the cadence-26 font as a notehead:
local newfont="cadence-26" --set new font name
local usesymbol=0xE13B -- use accent symbol 0xE13B from the font (see Finale font symbol dialog for the number in the character map)
(This script was done in 5 minutes and is just a very simple solution without a user dialog)
