I use the included plug-in for creating cues, however, there are some functions that are less than convenient.

Is there a way to have settings "stick"?
for example, I make my cues at 65%, but the plug-in by default always resets to 75%.
I'd like it if instrument names for cues were by default "attached to" layer 4, and resized accordingly. is there any way to get the plugin to do this?
I'd also like instrument names in cues to go to a specific folder in my expressions list.

is there another, more useful and more powerful, cue-note plug-in that I might consider?

I spend FAR more time just adjusting the cue notes and instrument names than anything else when preparing parts.

The TGTools (full) plug-in (Parts -> Add Cue Notes) is an alternative, although far from perfect.
It seems to memorize the reduction percentage even after quitting Finale, but otherwise your other wishes are not met...
In the last version, you even have to type the cue name, and it is too big...
The cue names get stored in the Miscellaneous category.

I use the TG Tools plug-in, but it has the same problem with the label size that the MM plug-in does. This broke when expressions were redone (Finale 2009? Something like that) and was never fixed. After running the plug-in, I've taken to moving the label from Miscellaneous to a dedicated category, and then using "reset fonts and positioning." But it does remember the settings, unlike the MM plug-in.

It would be nice to have a cue notes plug-in that could put a cue into a measure that already has music as well (such as when a cue ends the the real music starts in the same measure).

Motet: I accidentally today created a cue that overlapped pre-existing notes in another part. I assumed it would give me the "measure must be empty" message, but it didn't. It simply created the cue in layer 4, no questions asked. So maybe this is something that's been fixed? (adding cues to measures that already contain music)

I'll try it! Maybe this is a deficiency of the TG Tools plug-in.

Possibly a macro editor that can record and playback actions might save you some time?

Michel R E: I just noticed that the TGTools Cue Notes plug-in is free.

I guess you install the full TG Tools but then it doesn't check for a license for this one.

GREAT! thank-you Motet. I'll try that, though now the parts have been shipped off to the orchestra librarian, so it's a bit late for me.. mind you I have a string quartet commission coming up, so I might need to do some ques in that.
