Can anyone show me how to delete the circled offender in this Monk chart without deleting the piano brace?

Thanks in advance,
Ron

I suppose that the “wings” could be hidden with two opaque shape expressions.

However, take a look at the attached Finale document which shows an alternate layout, done in a few seconds.
This alternate layout may not be of use for you, I know!

That might work. Actually, I have the ultimate workaround. I'm not going to bother printing the score. Only really need the parts for performance.

Happy Thelonious Monk Centennial everyone!!!!

Very weird. If you even define a piano group for the first measure only, it puts those wings on the repeat sign.

You can set the wings to "None" in Document Options > Repeats.

The problem will also go away if you only group the pair of staves above and below the piano, rather than grouping all the instruments together, which is perhaps more usual.
