Hi all,
You know that error sound that happens when you click or type somewhere that you shouldn't? It sounds like a loud marimba tone. And if you happen to have the external monitor speakers turned up high (for proper Garritan level playback), it it scary and deafening!

Is there a way to route that error sound to the internal speaker (i.e.: quieter), but still allow the playback to go to line out > mixer > monitors?

I'm using a iMac 27in mid 2011 Sierra.

Cheers,
Hector Pascal.

I have always muted the error sounds as I do not like them. That doesn't answer your question, sorry.

You can specify the type of sound, volume level, etc in System Prefs.

As to Garritan, I have the volume in Audio Units turned up above 100 (usually c. 130) for both the master volume and the ARIA units. That seems to bring it to normal level.

Ha! This is what I ended up with (see screenshot) trying to get an approximately realistic balance for playback of an opera scene (through either headphones or hi-fi, not computer speakers).

I've been using Finale since 2001 and fortunately have never heard any kind of warning sound within Finale. How does one turn it on? From what you describe, I'd just turn the damn thing off. Sounds extremely irritating.

He's talking about the MacOS system beep, which you can get when your trying to type or click outside of a dialog, or other situations. It's not Finale at all.

I generally hear no beeping at all when using the computer, so either it's turned off or I make no mistakes in typing (highly unlikely). The only sound I hear regularly is that little "flourish" when the import of a CD into ITunes is finished.

In System Prefs, select Sound/Internal Speakers/Sound Effects.
Turn the Alert Volume all the way down.
