Strange copy/paste behaviour

Apologies if this is "old news", and maybe I should have searched the forums more thoroughly, however I've not come across this behaviour before. I wonder if anyone can replicate it, or confirm that it's a known bug?

Try this:

1) Create a new doc with two staves.
2) in one stave enter two different notes (half-notes in 4/4 time will do for clarity)
3) create a smartshape gliss. between the two notes
4) create a slur between the two notes
5 copy the measure from one stave to the other

When I do it, the gliss. copies, but not the slur, although the filter is set to copy everything.

Anyone else get the same result?

Am I missing something?

TIA,

Gareth

It does that for me too. However if you enter them with the slur first and then the gliss, it copies both.

So it does! how very (even more) bizarre.

But now I discover that if I subsequently modify the slur shape, once again if fails to copy the slur ...

Definitely something not right here.

This is another one of those bugs involving copy/paste and measure stacks. If you copy/paste to another measure in the same staff, the slur fails to copy. However, if you select both staves and copy/paste to another measure, you're good to go. If, in Scroll View, you create a Staff Set, selecting the measure and copy/pasting to another measure works fine.

As a workaround, create a Staff Set for the destination staff, copy from the source staff, and then select the staff set for the destination staff before pasting.

Sorry, Zuill, I'm not sure I'm understanding you. Measure stacks are not involved here; I'm trying to copy vertically. In my "real world" example (which I can't demonstrate for copyright reasons) I'm copying from 1st to 2nd violins.

I understand that. If you go into scroll view and create a Staff Set with just the second violin,, then you can successfully paste to that staff, because a Staff set with just one staff is perceived by Finale as a measure stack, thus circumventing the bug.

Here's a workaround which might work better:

In Scroll View, create a Staff Set with both violins.
Select that Staff Set.
Select both staves (measure stack) in the needed measure(s).
Copy
Select just the 2nd violin in the needed measure(s).
Paste

This also circumvents the bug. I think this workaround is easier with time consumed.

P.S.: Even easier is to select both staves, then ctrl-click the lower staff.
