I have been having some issues with a cross page glissando getting messed up anytime I click off of it. If it is the last thing I have selected, and I have not moved the screen at all, it works fine; however, when I do anything else, it just glitches out all across the screen. This is reflected when the project is printed. Is there any fix to this?

Lastly, how do you guys add directional masks to smartshapes? There are some gliss and cresc markings that I would like to mask the barline. The reason for asking if there is a method for changing the angle of the mask is that I have a gliss that crosses over a time signature at an angle that makes it hard to notice that the smartshape even exists.

The problem you're having with the gliss may have something to do with the way you're entering it. Try this: with the gliss tool, double click on the first note to be glissed. The gliss will appear and automatically attach itself to the second note. Does that work?

Your second question is a bit harder. It's usually not possible to mask barlines without also masking the shape passing through. If the gliss appears at the end of the measure and you want to increase its visibility, add some space at the end of the measure. Measure Tool > Extra Space at end of measure, 1-2 spaces should do.

I tried entering the gliss the way you recommended, which is what I did to begin with, and it still is messing up across the page. It is only one page that is having issues. it is going from the bass clef to a treble cleff note, which is in the bass but I moved it across the staff.

Re-spacing the measurewidth helped fix the gliss that was colliding with the time signature.... now if only it would stop making squiggly lines at my page turns with cross page/staff gliss :(

You moved the bass clef note to the treble staff via the "cross staff" move? That might be a problem. Try dragging the end of the gliss to the note you want it attached to. Make sure the notehead highlights before releasing the mouse button. Otherwise, post a Finale file with a few measures around where this is happening.

Neither having the note in the top or anywhere has alleviated the issue.

Piano Pete,

Have you tried adding the glissando from Scroll View?

Please post a Finale file that illustrates the problem. You can delete all the measures except those showing the problem. Right now we can only guess.

Hopefully the picture has uploaded correctly.

I zoomed into the area in question, the line continues down the page and starts making squiggly lines way passed the actual Finale page (into the grey area). If I click the smart shape, it snaps back to the position it should be in; as soon as anything else happens: random mess.

I can't reproduce the behavior. There's some piece of information we are not privy to. Definitely a fie needs to be examined to be of any help.

For now, I have gotten a bandaid by:

1) Unlinking the gliss.

2) Hiding it in the score while keeping it visible in part.

3) Using a standard line for the parts on the score that are messed up, and hiding them in the part.

I'll post a snippet when I can to see if it is something wonky with the File etc. Unfortunately it may be a bit before I can do that. I have a ton of work to do, and since I have found a short-term fix for this current project, I gotta keep hammering these scores/parts out.

I have in the past had a few glisses which have behaved liked this and printed all over the place in PDF. Unfortunately, I can't remember the solution, let alone the cause, but it was correctable.
