I have a score in which for choral purposes I doubled most stems in a couple of parts.
I would like to be able to copy the entire staff to another staff but have the stems revert to default, single stems.
Thus far I haven't found a way to do this by editing a filter or applying a staff style.

Does anyone have a solution other than the tedious one of clicking every note using advanced tools/double stems?

Thanks.

I don't know of a way, but I would be more concerned as to why the doubled stems didn't copy. If you could post a measure sample that displays the errant behavior, we might be of help. It would save time if you could get the proper copying behavior.

If I understand the problem, you might be able to use JW Staff Polyphony to split the staff into two layers. Then, you could copy/paste one or the other.

I have the exact opposite problem - the split stems always copy, even if "Special Alterations" is unchecked in the filter. Finale 2012 and 25.

No, the stems copy/paste exactly as on the original staff. If doubly stemmed, they also paste as doubly stemmed.
I've tried every work-around I can think of, such as creating a staff in which all stems are downward. The pasted notes STILL are doubly stemmed.

Woohoo! I just found the solution: select all notes to be singly stemmed, use Utilities/ Stem Direction / Default.

Hope this saves somebody else time in the future.

Thanks for the replies. This forum is great!

Boy did I misread the need. I was thinking that double stems were wanted, not unwanted. Oops.
