Other documents previously saved as well as the exercise template I've been using for the past 6 months in which I have published 2 books from are working ok but none of the other templates that came with Finale have the right fonts.motet wrote:Other documents OK?

yes, you may have missed the part where previously saved documents are all working properly. It's just new ones. I notice that when I start up and go to font options, all the fonts are pointing to random system fonts.motet wrote:You've rebooted?

Try downloading Finale 2014.5 and specify a "Custom Install" of fonts only.

I didn't miss what you said, but it's always worth a a try rebooting.
Maybe the default document or template you're using is corrupt. To rest this, try creating a different type of document. Engraved vs handwritten, e.g.

I've tried that. Basically, the *ONLY* ones that work are custom templates that I created from scratch. All MM templates are failing to load the proper fonts.

Those templates/default files should be in
\Users\Userid\AppData\Roaming\MakeMusic\Finale 2014.5\Music Files\
for your userid.
There are also copies in
\ProgramData\MakeMusic\Finale 2014.5\Music Files

Yes, I know. That's not the problem. it's finding the templates, just not getting the default fonts right. If I correct the fonts like I've done in the templates I've created, everything works ok. But for some reason, *ALL* of the installed templates from MM do not point to the correct fonts. The maestro fonts are installed properly and is what I'm using in my customized templates.motet wrote:Those templates/default files should be in

That doesn't solve the entire problem. I only have 4 categories to set in the fonts dialog and even after setting those, my title font and the clefs come out with random font values.zuill wrote:Sounds like time to recreate preferences.

Honestly, i'm not even sure how the templates I've hand edited are working. I'm not exactly sure what option I might have used which reset everything to point to the correct place.

Since you are having problems with MM Templates, maybe we should have you upload one here so we can try it out. If it works for us properly, then the issue is not with the Template, but with your system.

I suggested above something you might do to restore the default files. But I also like Zuill's idea. Try uploading
\Users\Userid\AppData\Roaming\MakeMusic\Finale 2014.5\Music Files\Default Files\Maestro Font Default.ftmx

Nothing's wrong with the template itself. It's still got the original modify time on it. It's the finale font configuration that apparently got screwed up in the install, i'm guessing.zuill wrote:Since you are having problems with MM Templates, maybe we should have you upload one here so we can try it out. will try that out later when I'm home. Thanks for the reply. There was a font-fix recommendation posted by MM. Probably a simpler way of accomplishing what you wrote above...motet wrote:I suggested above something you might do to restore the default files. But I also like Zuill's idea. Try uploading
