As a follow-up to the problem I just posted ... I know this is possible and even easy but have not stumbled over how to do it yet, namely:

How to I split music between two staves without having to write in rests in layers and make them invisible? I'm talking about the thing where (for example) you have maybe six notes in the bass cleff followed by a much in the treble, and I want to put the beam between the staves, the stems in the bass cleff going up and the stems in the treble going down. I'm sure this is easier to do than to describe.

I haven't even been able to find a useful search string to search the manual.

As I recall, when I stopped working on this about 2003, this wasn't easy to do in Finale yet. Since then I know there's an easy way to do it, but I don't know how. Sorry, I know this is an easy one and I should know it.

Using latest Finale on an up-to-date Mac.

Help?

Thank you.

Look up “cross-staff notes” in the help files. Sometimes, the secret is knowing the Finalespeak!

And there's a plugin with a metatool that helps to do it more easily.
