Using latest Finale on up-to-date Mac. (Well, I hear there's an OS update out today, but I doubt it's relevant.)

Is there a way in some plug-in or somewhere to tilt a hairpin? Surely I'm not the first person to want that. For instance, in piano music I might have a figure that sweeps upward from one dynamic to another and want to put a hairpin between. I'd like the start and end points to be at different levels vertically. The standard tool doesn't seem to allow that, presumably for a purpose, but I'd love to have a choice in the matter.

Thank you.

Right click on the hairpin handle and uncheck "make horizontal." You can then drag the left and right handles up and down.

Ha! Another one of those details I wouldn't have found in an hour of looking.

Thanks very much, Zuill. Job accomplished.

Lynn must have me blocked for referring to him as "she."

Umm ... motet, no I do not have you blocked!

With a name like Lynn I've had to live with mistaken identity my whole life. (Over 74 years.)
I don't even mind. It's amusing.

Did I miss something you replied?

See above. Zuill and I posted at about the same time.

I've known a couple of male Lynns, but never a female David.

Ha! That's why I have used my full name since youth for artistic works, writing, and for communication in environments such as this one -- to provide a gender clue. Though I have always gone by Lynn. I will accept it if someone calls me Lynn David (though no one who knows me ever has).

However, the scheme is not failsafe and sometimes it backfires. A few people have guessed I want to be addressed as David. I do not. And anyone who calls me Dave is assuming an uninvited familiarity that is liable to provoke a sharp retort.

Anyhow, thank you both for your prompt response. It's been a long time since I prowled around this forum, and I'm still learning who is who.

probably the problem here is with the contracted name you used (no spaces between parts of the name) first glance readers will see some sort of alternate spelling of Linda (Lynnda -- --vid - newton) and make the assumption that you are a woman. *shrug*
I have to admit it was the case for me, mistaking your gender (until your correction).

Contraction? Oh yeah, that. I use that as my user name on a lot of websites.
Never occurred to me anyone might be confused by it.
Anyway ... back to my score.

Especially with the hairpins, huh?
Never thought of that interpretation before.
