Hello,
Apologies if this topic doesn't really fit here, but it's the closest I could find, and I'm hoping someone can help. I have many old files from a Mac that were written in MusicTime, and I can't find a way to open or play them with anything. Does anyone know how I can convert these to MIDI? I don't have the Mac I used anymore. I'm attaching a sample. Thanks so much!
Matt

How many of these do you have?

If you don't have many, I can just convert them for you. That one took me a few seconds.

If you have many, I was going to suggest a crossgrade to the the latest version of Encore (v. 5.0.7, build 5.0.6.1303M for the Mac) or MusicTime 4.whatever. The web site appears to have shut down over the weekend—I was on it last week. I don't know if this is a permanent thing or not.

Encore is in sad shape, not having had a real update since 2009. Build 5.0.6.1303M for the Mac isn't all that bad for what it does. Interestingly, it runs much better in El Cap and High Sierra 10.13.1 then in OS 10.12 – 10.13. I have no idea if it can still be installed after OS 10.11 (web site says, yes, but users running Sierra had problems with the install).

Thanks so much, Mike, for converting my file and for the advice. I was able to find VM for Mac and an Encore 5 demo, and that works. Although I can't save them, I can listen to them, and honestly, that's enough... This old junk doesn't need to be easy to listen to!
Thanks again!

You can’t Save or Print in Demo mode but it won’t let you export the MIDI? Bummer.

Well, the offer stands if there aren’t a ton of files. PM me and we can do it through Dropbox.

Nope, no exporting. Thanks so much for the offer. There are a bunch, but if I come across any I really want to save, I'll let you know.

Sure. It was fun.

Just for kicks,I downloaded the MT 4.0.4 demo and saw that it installed over High Sierra (Encore has had issues). So, assuming you qualify for upgrade pricing, $49.99 gets you the latest version of a very limited program.

Although it takes some work to get the resulting MIDI files working in Finale (I had to reassign instruments), opening them in Notion 6 or Overture 5 makes for interesting results in the instrument assignments.
