Hello,

I'm working on an engraving job, creating parts from a score I was given, and I've come across an odd quirk (or possible error) I can't figure out and that I've never seen before: certain measures will not resize, and certain systems will refuse to allow new measures onto them and will push the measures off the page rather than have a measures be pushes onto the next system.

So, for the first part of the problem, opening the measure dialog box and changing the measure size from 3" to 1" won't actually affect anything. Nor will dragging the measures handles manually (the handle will float in the middle of the measure, but the measure itself will be unchanged).

For the second, you can see what I mean in the attached pictures (the first shot shows empty staff space from a shortened measure, the second show the system going off the page).

Any ideas what's happening here?

Thanks,
Sean

It looks like an Update Layout problem. Press Command/U to manually update - make sure auto update is checked in Preferences>Edit.

I wonder if the first problem is because of something Human Playback has left behind to play the tremolo. I don't know exactly how it works, but there must be a way of clearing it.

Even if that were the case, Update Layout would correct the notes off the page issue one way or another.

So, Update the Layout and see what happens. Automatic Update Layout should be on by default, so that may have been turned off for some unknown reason. I never do that, but I suppose some do. Not a good idea, though.
