I'm trying to print a score to PDF. The problem is even though the document is set to legal when I go to print the selection is letter and I can't seem to change it. I go to page setup and it's set to letter. When I click on Print and select the printer the sheet is also set to letter and I can seem to change it. When I print to PDF the bottom of the score is cut off as if the document is set to letter. Any suggestions?

Have you tried using the Graphics Tool to Export Pages as PDF?

It would be interesting to know if you can print Legal to PDF from some other program like Word or Notepad.

The other thing to try is to go to Devices and Printers from the Control Panel, find "Printer server properties", "Forms" tab, and see if Legal is listed. If not, you can add it.

...and even if there is a Legal, try adding another that size with a different name. I'm vaguely remembering now that I had to do that with 9x12--the existing one didn't show up for whatever I was trying to print to. I now have three or four 9x12's, including ARCH A.

I tried this but only can export it as a TIFF.

Yes, no problem.

Yes, I did this but I get the same PDF printed to letter sheets.
I had this same problem with another of this composers score but I was able to print to PDF by changing the settings in Options, page format Score but I've been playing around with these settings to no avail.

Just in case : the page size in Page Format -> Score can be changed, but you need to go to the Page Layout menu and Redefine All pages to apply the modifications.

In the print dialog, wade down into the printer properties, options, or "advanced" and see if you can specify the paper size there.

My guess is that it is because you are still using Finale 2006.

I could be wrong here, but I suspect that you can Export Pages as PDF if you upgrade Finale.

At least you can export as PDF in Mac Finale v25.

Looks like Export Pages makes a separate file for each page--true? Does it go through Finale's PDF code, same as Export from the File menu? That has problems on Windows.

That each page is exported as a separate PDF file, must be specific for the Graphics Tool in Windows Finale.

Mac Finale’s Graphics Tool exports all the pages as one single (multi-page) PDF file.

Why not use a virtual print to PDF printer (such as PDFCreator)? There have been many threads about problems with Finale exporting to PDF. I have for years only used those PDF printers without any problems. No matter what the original paper size in Finale is, I can always print to just about any other size and orientation, to be set in the Print Setup, and by specifying in the Finale print screen: Layout - 1 up - fit to page. There may be a screen coming up telling you the document size doesn't match the printer setting, just ignore it by clicking on yes/continue. Works (for me) every time (and as far as I remember with all previous Finale versions). Plus, as discussed in a recent thread, the file sizes are much smaller than the PDFs created from Finale graphics export as PDF. The quality also seems to be fine to me, I see no difference (even if it was noted that it is apparently not "true" black or such). Just my 2 cents ...

I hope this works. Here's the screenshot of the first two pages. As you may be able to see the bottom part of the score is cut off and it looks like it is still selecting letter instead of legal.

Yes 2006. How much to upgrade?

Yes, it makes a TIFF for each page.

No and there is Export from the File menu; only Import.
I was finally able to print to PDF using a PDF Creator but the problem with Finale still exists and it is this.
The page in selected as Legal in Options, Page format, Score but when I go to File Page Setup it shows as Letter. I change it to Legal and when I go back it is set back to Letter. When I go to Print and choose Setup it also shows Letter there. Is there any other place I should change the page to Legal?

Just an update. I went to Page Setup and selected Printer, Selected the XPS printer, clicked on Advanced and selected the Legal sheet. From there when I selected Print to PDF it was legal all the way and I was successful in printing the score to PDF.
