Hello,
On my Orchestra score especially on the triangle timpani and now I found one on the flutes there is mutiple grey smush looking marks covering the score. They now cover much of the timpani. When I press play they go away and disappear but when I go back to work on the score they are all there and quite a mess. I need to get rid of them without having to delete and re-do parts. Please help. I have no idea how they got there.

Michael

Sounds like hidden playback notes for trills. Do they print? If not, no need to worry.

Thank you BUT I can't work on the percussion part or any part placing text in with all of this grey covering the whole measure and many measures after.
It is unmanageable.

Thanks
Michael

Without seeing the file, I can't say that my suggestion is what's going on. If they are hidden notes, just make the option to see hidden notes 0% instead of the % chosen, and then you won't see them. Otherwise, post the file here and we'll figure out the problem.

P.S.: I see that your signature says PrintMusic. Maybe it doesn't have the same options as Finale. You might want to post on the PrintMusic forum.

It is me again...

I have full Finale. I upgraded. You are right that it is the trills and the grey is all the notes that would make that Trill.

If you could please walk me through where hidden notes are--what tool to go to or drop down to hit and how to hide those notes I would be greatly appreciative. I can't figure this out bu myself. This is a new learning subject in finale for me.

Thank you
Michael

Should such stuff be there? I thought HP cleaned up after itself every time.

Finale Menu > Preferences > View

Change "Hidden Object Shading" to zero.

Indeed. I would first try to figure out the cause of this problem before treating the symptoms.

In that case you should update your forum user profile - it still says Print Music.

The simplest solution:

View menu > Show > Hidden Notes and Rests (toggle this option off)

You can always toggle the option on again later.

Playback notes are created with either TGTools or the Apply HP playback feature. These may be a result of legitimate steps taken, not necessarily a problem.

Aha, that's true. Running either plugin will produce 'permanent' extra playback notes. Indeed, not a problem that needs tackling other than making the added notes invisible, although this might lead to other problems, like invisible notes one needs to be reminded of. Make sure that Avoid Collision of Hidden Notes is turned off in Music Spacing options.

Thanks to everyone who had advice.

When all said and done,

1. I went to view
2. Down to show
3. unchecked SHOW hidden notes and rest.

Thanks again
Michael
