Lyric arrow windows appears with the Expression Tool

Hello,
The lyric arrows window pops up when I'm using the Expression tool.
How can I get rid of it?
Its location prevents me from being able to edit the tempo marking at the beginning of the score.
Thanks,
Lorraine

That's actually part of the Expression Tool. That shows the adjustment for the expression baseline. Similar to the Lyric Tool.

If you want to get rid of it, go to the Expression Menu and uncheck "Adjust Above Staff Baseline" and "Adjust Below Staff Baseline".

Yeah, I rarely use that, though I guess some people might. Seems like it should be off by default, not on.

I've been using Finale for about 10 years now and that arrow window has never appeared automatically when I click on Expression Tool. It was covering all the expression markings of the first bar, so I couldn't edit them. And I don't want to switch to print view each time I want to make a change to the tempo marking, dynamic marking or rehearsal letters at the beginning of the piece. Meanwhile, I found out how to get rid of it: I clicked on the Expression down menu and "Adjust above staff line" was selected. I unselected it, and the window disappeared.

I totally agree with you motet. I'll try to figure out why it pops up by default these days!

Ha, I didn't see this until after I posted my reply. Thanks, yes, that's the fix! :)
