When I start up finale I get this message for each of the staves in the project. if I open the score manager, and choose an instrument from the list, I get the same (or similar message).
finale version: 25.5.0.290
how can I resolve this?

I can't tell from the picture what the virtual instrument is. Is it Garritan?

I don't know - it's just whatever the default sounds are the come with finale. I can't get anything to work.

If regenerating the 2 preferences files fails, it sounds like a reinstall is needed. Some components may not have installed.

I will reinstall if necessary, but this is not a new install. the instruments were working at one time, I've had this version of finale on this machine ever since the last upgrade sale and the instruments not found problem just started.
Surely there's a way to get finale to rescan the aria player or something?
