Windows 10 Home / Finale 2014.5

I'm working on a file about 10 pages long. Each page has a Page Break related to good page turns. No matter how many times in a day I open or close Finale, the Page Breaks are fine. But when I open the file the next day, the Page Breaks are gone and the system spacing is messed up.

Is it simply that Finale 2014.5 is too old for my computer, meaning that the operating system can no longer support it? (I'm disinclined to upgrade to Finale25 because of the closure of the Telephone help line.) Or is my computer/operating system too old for Finale2014.5?

Any thoughts?

Thank you,
Michael Sweeney.

Page breaks shouldn't disappear. I have 2011-25.5 on my Win7 computer, and this doesn't happen to me in any version.

Thanks Zuill,

I know they should not disappear, but they do. This morning when I opened the file they were gone even though I had put them in (for the second time) yesterday. Yesterday, the same thing.

Anyone else have any thoughts?

Thanks,
Michael.

mozartmike,

Please specify the steps you've already taken, so that we can rule out things.

Have you e. g. tried trashing the Preferences file?
That is the first thing I would try.

Maybe just updating the layout before saving is all that is needed.

We would really need to see the document. If it does or doesn't misbehave on other computers, even running 2014.5 on Windows 10, then that may help to pinpoint the cause.
You can see the Page Break icons in the document, and then they disappear? Do Locked systems behave similarly/differently?

If your plan is to protest MM's economic necessities by not investing in the continued development of the program, that's somewhat counter-productive. Companies don't often respond to reduced income by increasing spending.

You may find that the latest version reduces your need for phone support by working more smoothly, with fewer errors.
