Hi,
I'm having some troubles choosing the right font and size for chord symbols.
I'm working with classical musicians with jazz rhythm section so I'm using the maestro font but I don't like the chord symbols fonts.
The finale copyist seems much better but I'm not satisfied with the spacing between the chord symbols and the suffixes.
Any advice?

Thanks in advance

Is this more of what you want?

See the attached Finale file. I went to Document Options > Fonts and set the fonts and sizes under the "Chord" pulldown. Then go to Document Options > Chords > Music Characters and select the flat, sharp and natural from the Finale Copyist font.

That's exactly what I need.
However I can't find the natural, flat and sharp with the Finale Copyist font. Should I load some libraries?

Thanks.

The natural, flat and sharp chord alterations (Bb, C#, E natural, etc.) are not in the libraries, they are in the Document Options. Do as I suggested above - first change the Chord settings under fonts (I used Finale Copyist 16 point for the Chord, Alteration and Suffix). Then go to Document Options > Chords and select the natural, flat and sharp from "Music Characters". The window will look like the picture below.

What is a Bb-13 #5?
the 13th and #5 clash badly.
Are you sure that's what you want?
Would you post how it's voiced?

I'm following your instructions but I can find only the natural, flats, in the maestro font.

Could you tell me why?

Thanks again

It was in the Finale Copyist chord suffix selection. I only picked it to provide an example of the character spacing. Didn't know it might be incorrect. You might want to contact Make Music, as they created and supplied the suffix library.

You're not following my instructions, but perhaps I'm being a bit unclear. Do this:

√ Go to Document Options > Fonts
√ Where it says "Chord:", change the Symbol, Suffix and Alteration (use the drop down menu) to Finale Copyist Text 16 point.

Now, when you go to select the flat, sharp and natural, the font will be "Finale Copyist Text".
