Using latest Finale, latest Mac OS.
I've attached four bars of a .musx file, the relative part
of the first four bars of a score I'm finishing up. Now I'm
hoping the software will let me upload a file in this format.
To state the problem at the top: You can see by looking that
I have ticks for barlines in addition to the centered ones
-- not what I want. You can see the ticks extending slightly
above the top of the top stave and below the top line of the
bottom stave.
I can't get rid of these. I've tried everything I know
before coming and crying for help.
I can create a brand new piano score and create the barlines
that center between the staves and also the time signaures
that do likewise. (I've expanded the distance between stave
lines to 1.3" and adjusted the offset accordingly.) Exactly
what I want.
I started this work somewhere around 10-12 years ago (before
.musx format files existed) and stopped when I couldn't
solve some problems.
When I returned to it, after converting my .mus file to a
.musx and setting the defaults, I continued with it. I've
solved almost all the nits I couldn't deal with before. But
I simply CANNOT figure out how to get those ticks to stop
showing.
I'm certain this must be a simple matter of clicking some
option somewhere, but I've been unable to find it.
My hope is that by supplying a simple version of the actual
file that demonstrates the problem someone else might be
able to figure it out and tell me exactly what they had to
do to make it work.
(I have the same problem in the third movement. The second
uses a completely different sort of notation, a mixture of
hidden bar lines and ordinary barlines.
Endless thanks in advance as always.

You have 2 different groups assigned to the same staves. Just delete the group that has the tick chosen, but leave the other group.

I'd grown weary of knocking my head against the wall trying to figure that out.
I have no idea why I had two staff groups.
I'm not entirely sure what is meant by a staff group.
It's fixed now. Thank you so much. On to the next dragon.

When in doubt read the manual, eh? Worthy advice.motet wrote:It might be worth reading that section of the manual so you know what's really going on.lynndavidnewton wrote:I'm not entirely sure what is meant by a staff group.
Such a big manual, so little time. Plus it never occurred to me what I was experiencing might be
a staff group problem. And I'm sure there must be a perfectly good reason why you can create
multiple staff groups that include the same staves. But when I encounter a reason a light bulb
will go on and I'll know how to do it.
In any case, I've now done that.
