2 questions:

1) Should I completely remove v.2009c from my computer before installing v.25?

2) How do I install v.25 from the downloaded zip file? Anything I should be aware of? Should I have my MIDI keyboard ON while I install?

well, I see that's 5 questions, my bad . . . :)

THANKS GUYS!

1) You can have multiple versions of Finale installed. I'd keep 2009 "just in case".

2) If you've downloaded the installer, double click on it and it should walk you through the process.
I've never had problems installing Finale and most don't, a few do. You'll find out in any case.
I'd quit all unneeded applications and turn off any unneeded accessories. After installation shut the computer down and restart.

The way I see it…

You can leave 2009 but I wouldn't. Windows really just doesn't like that. It seems to just tolerate it to me. I ran 2014.5 and 25 for a while and, yeah, it works but little quirks pop up now and again. Back when both versions were 32-bit I did leave several versions on at a time but I really don't know why. You will migrate to the newest version sooner or later.

Why do you want to keep 2009? Fin 25 is great.

As my info to the right of this posting shows, I've got 2005, 2011, and 2014.4 all installed, and have no trouble with Windows. The reason is that I have files created in all three, and while a newer version can open an older file and usually does quite well, there are sometimes little that need correcting, and everything needs to be carefully checked, so if I just want to make a quick fix the older version of Finale is easier.

The only Windows issue is, if you double-click on a Finale file to open it rather than opening from within the program, which version of Finale should be used to open the file? I've got it set up to open .musx and .asvx with 2014.5, otherwise 2011. If I want to open something in 2005, then I do it from within the program. Most people though would probably want to assign all file extensions to the latest version during installation and open older files with older versions manually.

This might not apply to you, of course, and all things being equal, then just one version of Finale is of course cleaner. But I don't think it hurts to leave an old one installed until you're sure.
