Is there a way to tell Finale to fit a piece to x pages. I have a piece that is 4 pages, but 2 lines of music went over to the next page. I used the resize tool to resize page to 99%. It works ok, but then the last system has only 2 stretched-out measures, while most of the systems have like 7 or 8. Then I force some of the measures down from the second-to-last system and then move some more down to that system from the previous. Is there a better way to do this?

There are so many variables that we would need a lot more information, or even the file itself.

ok, I guess my question is too vague. I know on word processors, there is a fit to page option, and I thought that finale might have something like that. I know the resize tool, and I know how to move measures up and down to the next or previous line. Are there other ways to spread measures out so that I don't end up with the last system having stretched out measures?

One can lock the number of measures per system. One can determine the number of systems per page. One can resize staves and systems. One can change spacing between staves within a multi-staff system. One can also change the percentage of a page. One can change the system margins, one can change the page margins.

So, considering all of these variables, we would need to see the document to find out where we stand. I don't think words would give us enough info to be of help.

Finale is powerful, so fitting music to a page has many parts to the job. That's the nature of the power and flexibility.

The short answer is no, Finale is not smart enough to do a best fit over a number of pages.

ok, thank you. I'll play around with some of those options.
