I have Finale 2014 running on Mac.
While I was using the articulation tool the program suddenly crashed.
I restarted the program, trying to re-open the file (which was previously saved) and the program shows me this error message:
error opening file "file name": -55.
Does somebody know why do I get this error? And do I have any chance to recover my saved file in any way?
Thanks for the support,

What OS version are you running? 2014 (without updates) may not work well on some Mac OSes.

-55 is drive mounting error. Have you restarted?

If you have a Time Machine backup, you should have copies every hour for the last 24 hours, and daily copies thereafter.

I have Sierra 10.12 as OS.
I don't have backups though and I have restarted but nothing happened, same error again.
So, is there any different way to recover my file?
Also, is this a common problem that could pop out again? And if that's the case, why?
Thanks for your help

As Buontempi wrote, there are issues with 2014 and Sierra, but your problem may be more than that.

You could post the file here and see if someone can open it with a later version of Finale, or if you are uncomfortable posting it, mail it to someone here.

Also, Finale always makes backup files for you. If you haven't specified where you want backups to be sent, there is a folder in your Documents folder called "Finale Files" - it's installed there when you first install Finale. Maybe there's a usable backup there.

Additionally, if you're using Finale 2014, there was a free Finale 2014.5 update that fixed some problems with Finale 2014. You might want to download and install that.

Normally, -55 is bad. Knowing nothing about your setup, there's no way of knowing if you're saving to a remote drive and you have a bad connection (like a USB or FW drive that isn't waking up), you did something to corrupt the path to the directory where that file is stored or if it's your system drive telling you that it's failing.
