Latest Finale, latest Mac ...

I know how to make rolled chords using the vertical wavy line in the articulations table.

How do I make a symbol for a rolled chord that rolls downward? This is not all that
unusual in piano music and in guitar.

I suppose I could create one by adding an arrow to the bottom of a stretchable wavy line,
but I don't know what to do for playback.

There are premade ones in one of the Engraver fonts. There are 3 lengths, and are not stretchable. I'm not sure HP recognizes them for playback, but you can design them for downward playback in the Articulation properties.

P.S.: It's in the Engraver Text font. And HP does recognize it, so no need to set the numbers.

OK, I found them, and those will work adequately. I'm not aiming for perfection in playback (which is
mighty darn good as it is). I may experiment with the Articulation properties to see if I can make
it do something, although I've never prowled around in that corner of the program.

I actually found this first try. I'm getting better! Thanks much for the pointer.

They are in the Engraver Text fonts - in the font slots #75 (type uppercase letter K), #76 (type uppercase letter L), #77 (type uppercase letter M).

1) To use the Text Tool:
Switch to the Text Tool.
Double-click the staff/measure where you need the text block. An empty text block with a blinker appears.
Text menu > Font > …
Are you saying that your Font menu does not display any Engraver Text fonts ?
This could mean that the Engraver Text fonts are not installed.

2) I would use the Articulation Tool, rather than the Text Tool:
Articulation Tool.
Click on the chord to be rolled. The Articulation Selection appears.
Click the button {Create…}. The Articulation Designer appears.
Click the button {Set Font…}. The dialog box Font appears.
