Accidental Parentheses
Moderators: Peter Thomsen, miker
Is it possible to adjust the spacing of the parentheses around accidentals. I've always elected not to use them because of the cluttered look. I'd use them if I could move the parentheses further away from the accidental, to make for easier reading. I've search the forum regarding this and haven't seen my answer. I apologize if it's already been addressed.

I suppose that you mean the automatically “parenthesized” accidental, you get, when you hit the letter P key, right?
The “parenthesized” accidental is one font character.
Not three font characters, but only one character.
In Other Words:
To “move the parentheses further away from the accidental” you must edit the music font in a font editor.
Workaround:
Instead of using the letter P key, add the parentheses with the Articulation Tool, or with the Expression Tool.

The "Maestro" font has very tight parenthesized accidentals.
You could use another font just for the accidentals, like Petrucci, EngraverFontSet, Sebastian or Susato.

Thanks for your suggestions. I primarily use the Jazz font, but I'll look into the others. I also thought of the articulation tool, but that's a lot of additional work if you have some fairly chromatic piece.
Thanks very much.

To match the Jazz font look, you should try the free LijazFIN font for Finale.
The parentheses have a little bit more space. The left one is LijazFIN, the right one is Jazz.
