Finale to Sibelius not working

I use Finale, V27, a band director I send music to uses Sibelius. I export it in the format Finale states is for Sibelius. He is unable to open it. He states it is not in a true Sibelius format. Any suggestions?

Yes. XML. Sibelius states "it is not a music XML and cannot be loaded. Element caesura contains not allowed child content." There is no lyrics. The music is Carol of the Bells.

It sounds like the XML file is getting scrambled during emailing. Use a ZIP archiver and send the zip file.

gsailors,

Finale v27 can export Music XML in several versions/formats.

Take a look in
File menu > Export > MusicXML Preferences…

gsailors,

Try selecting the uncompressed XML version.
You may also want to downgrade the XML to v3. The Sibelius may be an older version that does not support v4.
You must go to XML "Import" to change the "Export" preferences.
