title says it all - I upgraded from v25, but never had this issue before. I'm often trying to cram a lot of music onto fewer pages to minimize page turns, and for lead sheets this means lots of syllable adjusting.

When I use the lyric -> adjust syllables and grab a handle and move it via the arrow keys, finale readjusts the whole note spacing for that measure. Super annoying! Is there a setting that I can enable/disable to get rid of this "feature"?

This doesn't seem to happen when I move syllables with a mouse, but I like using the arrow keys since I know I won't accidentally impart any vertical displacement.

Thanks!
G

I can confirm this behavior. Have you sent it in to Tech Support?

In the meantime, if you hold the shift key down while you move syllables, they will be constrained to horizontal.

Thanks, I haven't reported it; didn't realize it was actually a bug, but I will now! :-D

Thanks for the shift tip too!

That happens if you uncheck Document Options/Music Spacing/Avoid collision of Lyrics?

If you still have v25 installed you can go back there and adjust lyrics. If I were you, I'd ditch v27 temporarily until all of the quirks are ironed out.

motet, you are correct. Unchecking Lyrics allows shifting lyrics without moving the notes. However, in F26, you can move those lyrics without causing the notes to move, even with the Lyrics option checked. So maybe the bug was in 26 and every earlier version, and has been fixed in 27? I do a LOT of lyrics, and never noticed this behavior before.

Just throwing out suggestions. I rarely do lyrics, so am not an expert!

Oh my goodness, that’s a disaster. For those of us who work heavily with lyrics, changes to workflow like this (whether intended or not) are HORRIBLE.
