I'm looking for a way to add numbers above repeated measures. For instance, when percussion parts have several measures repeated and I use the One Measure Repeat symbol, how can I neatly add numbers above the measure so the player can keep track of his/her place in the music? I don't want to add text, as these tend to stay in place when I make adjustments. Should I use the Lyrics Tool and move them above the music? I would like them to be centered over the measures.

A) I am using expressions, in a custom expression category, set up with Font and Positioning.

B) Also, you could try the plug-in:
Plug-ins menu > Measures > Number Repeated Measures
The plug-in does exactly the same as A), but without allowing the user to customize Font and Positioning.

Thanks, Peter. I'll check those out and give them a shot.

"Number Repeated Measures" doesn't center correctly when a bar is at the beginning of a system, though, but you can hand-correct that.

I use the positioning shown below along with the JW Pattern plug-in.

The JW Pattern plug-in allows you to point to a customized Expression category, where you can define numbers to have the font and positioning (center) of your choice. Numbering starts from 1 (can even start on the original pattern measure). Can be for parts only. Ideal for drum parts.

The "additional horizontal offset" above, required to center the number exactly, comes from the Notes and Rests settings

(Spacing After Music - Spacing Before Music) / 2

which works out to -16 EVPU with the default settings.
