I'm producing a piano reduction (with soloist) of the Leopold Mozart Trumpet concerto. The soloist enters in bar 22, so I've hidden the trumpet staff in the first 5 systems. The Piano Group name is shown before the first bar but I don't know how or where to put the full name of the solo part.

If I check the box to display Staff Name in the Staff Attributes DB I get the abbreviated name on every system, which I don't want. I could use a Text box, or even an expression, to create the name but where to put it? There are two empty measures at the beginning of the 6th system, before the trumpet entry, which would be a nice space for it, but hiding them loses the clef and the time and key sigs.

Thanks

I wouldn't put staff names on the piano/trumpet part. It's obvious which is which. That seems to be common practice among publishers.

Put "Trumpet in Xx" as a header on the first page of the trumpet part and "Trumpet with Piano Accompaniment"on the first page of the Piano/Trumpet part. Or some such.

Thankyou. I did wonder about that. I'm not really familiar with publishers' ways of doing things.

I found a workaround to do what I described but, as you say, it's better to leave out the staff names altogether, so that's what I've done. Job finished!
