Well, the ole Dell desktop went belly up last Friday. You know a common desktop isn’t something they have a lot of these days. Anyway, I had to buy a “gaming” desktop. Yeah, I am right in there with all the gamers. It lights up and everything. It is a PowerSpec Gaming PC and has a Geforce RTX video card and Windows 11 Pro. 16GB of memory and a 1TB SSD. A lot of that doesn’t mean very much to me but I guess its better than the old Dell. I guess six years is an eternity for a computer. I’m sure its bottom of the line for the real gamers.

Anyway so far, Finale 27.3, NP3 and Perfect Layout are all ruining perfectly and I mean fast. The sound is very much improved, too.

I will also add Make Music is a whole lot better to deal with than Adobe is. So is Jan at Elbsound.

Dell has more desktops in its business line than its consumer line.

Microcenter didn't have them at least in my price range. They have lots of laptops and gaming computers. I needed it ASAP because I had work that needed to be out today.

For the few extra dollars you have great speed and the machine will likely remain NICELY useable for a longer time. Often, people tolerate a lot of irritation on a slow computer-it works but it's a struggle.

This is a store built. PowerSpec is Microcenter's house brand.
Everything about it is better. It is very fast compared to the six year old Dell XPS although it was a I7. The sound is better the video is very much better. Windows 11 is the same but different. Things aren't done exactly the same way and muscle memory needs to be turned down a bit.
In Finale, which is working properly, the new Geforce video makes a big difference. Making a wave file now is almost instantly done. First time I thought it didn't even do it.

Finale 27.3 transferred just fine. NP3 and Perfect Layout as well and both work as expected. Only Adobe's Photoshop and Lightroom gave problems. But that's Adobe for you. If you think MM customer support could be better, try Adobe's sometime.
