I've got some files in Finale 2004
After converting and saving them into Finale 25.4 I'm trying to send them to a friend who has a Finale Printmusic 2014
I Export them as Music XML 1.0
But he cannot open them
(There's no problem at all when I do the same with some more recent files)

I appreciate your time and help

I suspect it's your friend's problem, not yours.

Thank you, motet.
Perhaps should I Export them as Music XML with another extension other than 1.0 ?

In PrintMusic, he should use Import -> MusicXML, not Open.
By the way, PrintMusic 2014 uses the .musx file format. Have you tried to send him a .musx file ?

Thank you, michelp,
can I write down the route to send the file as you say, please?

Shoul I change my musicXML preferences?

By the way, I cannot attach my preferences as word nor as paint

I missed that you are sending your friend MusicXML. You should be able to just give him the .musx file. If Printmusic 2014 used .mus rather than .musx, then use Export/Finale 2012 to get a .mus file. Stay away from the SMuFL fonts.

For that matter, Printmusic 2014 can probably read your Finale 2004 .mus files directly.

I was referring to regular .musx files, not MusicXML. They can be opened by PrintMusic 2014.
