Using Finale 2014.5, windows. Many years ago, I used to create drum parts and sometimes just wanted "Time 8 Bars" etc. listed for a rehearsal marking instead of all the bars, slash notation, reminders above for counting measures........I would do this by leaving the staff blank, so it created a multi measure rest. I would then, when editing the part, simply insert "Blank notation" for the staff style and add text "Time 8 Bars simile" or whatever. Now, when I do this, it looks fine on the part but when I print to pdf, creating a pdf, it goes absolutely crazy. Spacing is all off on the pdf, small barlines everywhere, etc. Fix? ty

What software are you using for print to PDF?

My first guess:

Document menu > Document Options > Multimeasure Rests

Is the option
Update Automatically
selected or de-selected ?
Mac OS X 12.6.9 (Monterey), Finale user since 1996

And is Preferences/Edit/Automatic Update Layout checked or not? It should always be checked.
