Hi

I'm presently working with Guitar tablature and I can't get the measure written as the attached pictures. Please would you be so kind to explain how this triplets can be achieve in Finale.

I'm still using finale 2014.5 for windows

Your help and explaination on this matter would be greatly appreciated,

Finally back after the closing of the old finale forum where I'd used quite often.

This section of the forum is for feedback on the forum itself. You might want to post your questions in the General Finale Help portion.

Germain,

If you go to the main page (finaleforum.com) you should see the list of all the forum categories. Or, try this:

It looks like the moderators moved your post for you. That's all I can guess. Now it's in the General Finale Help section.

Hi There

Now I guess I'm in the right forum sorry about this but it's the first time I use this new forum so I didn't know exactly how it works sorry for the inconvenience

As I sent earlier in the wrong forum I'm now re-submitting my problem. I'm presently working on a guitar tablature and can't get the measure written in the same way as the attached measure. Hard to understand all these triplets and figured out what I should do to be able to have the measure fill the same way as the attached measure. The tuning for this piece is in Drop D just to let you know I don't think it has any importance for my problem. No problem for the first triplet since is 3 eights in the space of two eights but the second triplet I don't know what should I use to get this?

Your help on this will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance for your time and help

Motet

Yes it looks very similar to the attached measure as long as it as 2 beats I guess it will be alright. How did you get this done?

Since you have not explained, what difficulties you are experiencing, we can only guess.

1) What tuplet entry method are you using?
- the Tuplet Tool on the Main Tool Palette?
- the Tuplet (sub-)Tool in the Simple Entry Tool?
- the Tuplet (sub-)Tool in the Speedy Entry Tool?
Are you using mouse or computer keyboard?

2) I notice that the triplet on the second beat ends a measure.
Do you generally have a problem with end-of-measure triplets?
If the answer is yes, try de-selecting “Check for Extra Notes”.

Thank you so much Zuill it works fine but I still don't know how you set it to get this second beat written like this. Could you explain how it is done?

While I'm here I will like to know when you use alpha notes is there a way you can remove them if you need. How do you do this?

Thanks again you make my day but really would like to know how it is done.

Did you use a staff style (e. g. Apply Finale AlphaNote Note Names, or Apply Finale AlphaNotes Solfege)
or did you use a plug-in (Plug-ins menu > Note, Beam, and Rest Editing > …)
?

If you used a staff style, just clear the staff style.

If you used a plug-in:
Edit menu > Clear Selected Items…
Click “None” to de-select everything,
then click “Notehead, Accidental and Tablature String Alterations”

For the second beat, start the triplet as 3 8ths in place of 2. After the 2 8th notes, enter the 2 32nds and then 1 16th.

Peter

Thanks you for the explaination of the alpha notes it works great now, Indeed I was using the plug in to add them.
