I have a piece with string quartet and a piano staff. As of now it only fits one system of 2-3 bars per page, and the entire bottom of the page is wasted but could fit another system of music. How do I set my document to fit another system of score music in the bottom half of my document pages?

thanks!

lora, you can alter the size of the system with the % tool. and you should update layout to maybe get more bars in a system automatically.

and please have a look at the manual...

If you can, reduce the distance between staves. And reduce system margins :
try smaller values in Document->Page Format ->Score.
You can reduce the size (%) of staves, the size of the system margins, etc...
To see the result, you need to go to the Page Layout tool, menu->Redefine pages->all pages.

hey sorry, you've been a great help and i've been using the manual but I'm still having trouble! Theres an excerpt in my piece with mainly 16th notes, and it's very crambed becuase it's putting like 5 measures per system, I don't know how to change this without it being tooo wide, when I put it to 4 systems per page, it's putting two and they are way spaced out,,help!

thanks again,

With Fit Measures, you can specify how many measures in a line. If you still have problems, post the file.

If you are "way spaced out", use the up & down arrow keys to move a highlighted measure to the next system.

If 5 measures are too cramped and 4 measures are too wide, then you don't have too many options.
