Custom Sized Time Signatures through piece of music
Moderators: Peter Thomsen, miker
How do I resize the time signatures in the middle of the score independently of the time signature at the beginning of the work? Kind of like I need to put a reminder time signature in the middle. -Joe Finale 2011 on Mac
I need the mini time signatures to change the timing. Can an expression alter the beats per measure? I'm looking to just make the signatures smaller with in the work. It is an irregular Hymn that I am setting and I don't care for all the regular sized TS all over the place. -joe

To change the time you need a "real" time signature.
An expression won't do.
But...
You can use the Staff Tool to hide/show time signatures.
Either
- set the Staff Attributes to, not display time signatures, and then use a staff style to make the hidden time signatures show where you want to "unhide" them,
or
- do it "the other way around": set the Staff Attributes to display time signatures, and then use a staff style to hide the time signatures "locally".
In a measure stack where there isn't a time signature change, Finale normally doesn't display a time signature.
With the Measure Tool you can force a such measure stack to display its time signature (use the Measure Attributes).
