In a piano piece I'm writing, I had a ritard, but decided later to delete it. The (now deleted) ritard still affects the playback. Is there anyway (aside from adding measures, rewriting the notes, and then deleting the old measures) to fix this?

Hard to say without seeing the file. Human Playback automatically does its own "magic" by adding ritardandos where it wants to. That could be the cause, even though you deleted the rit. symbol. Also, if you hard wired the MIDI data, then the rit. will show in the Tempo Data in the MIDI Tool.
So, check these things out (look at Tempo Data, try turning off HP, etc.).
